How do you turn your iPhone into a remote without downloading sketchy apps?

I’ve been trying to find a safe way to use my iPhone as a remote for my Samsung TV, but I’m getting tired of all those sketchy apps full of ads and weird permissions. I just want something that actually works without spamming me or draining my battery. I used to have an Android, and it had a built-in IR remote feature, but Apple doesn’t make it that easy.
