What is neta and how is it employed?

In Mexican slang language, neta means truth in literal sense, however it is applied to indicate honesty or seriousness. It is not uncommon to hear on the question neta? (meaning, really?) or to hear "La neta es que... (truth is,...). As an example, I can say that la neta es que no me gusta esa película means: I do not love that movie. neta is a word that helps you to make your language look natural and informal. Being a necessary term to know, it gets used a lot in real life and it allows you to reach the native speakers on an authentic level.
