Tangier safety for a solo female traveller?

I've been planning a trip to Morocco for ages and finally booked my flights last week, I'll be starting in Tangier and working my way down the coast over about ten days. I'm really excited but I'll admit I've had a few moments of doubt reading random comments online about safety, especially as I'm travelling alone and will be arriving fairly late in the evening. I've been trying to get a balanced view but it's hard when you see one person saying it's totally fine and another describing all these horror stories about hassle and scams. I'm pretty streetwise and have done plenty of solo travel in places like Turkey and Egypt so I'm not naive, but I guess I'm just looking for recent honest experiences from other women who've been recently. I came across a really detailed guide on Unique Travel Morocco that covered a lot of practical stuff like which areas to avoid after dark and how to deal with touts, it made me feel a bit better about the whole thing. I'll be staying in the kasbah area which seems to be recommended and I'm not planning on wandering around late at night alone anyway. I suppose I'm just wondering how safe is tangier for tourists in reality once you strip away all the scare stories you read online, particularly for someone on their own just wanting to explore at a relaxed pace during the day.
