A Quiet Evening, a Cup of Coffee, and a Sudoku Puzzle
Some hobbies enter your life with a bang. Others quietly sneak in and slowly become part of your routine. For me, solving Sudoku puzzles belongs to the second category.
It didn’t start as a serious habit. In fact, it began on a completely ordinary evening. I had just finished work, made myself a cup of coffee, and sat down with my phone, not really knowing what I wanted to do next. Social media felt exhausting that day, and I wasn’t in the mood for a fast-paced game.
So I opened a puzzle app.
That small decision turned into one of my favorite ways to relax.
The First Puzzle That Caught My Attention
The first Sudoku puzzle I tried looked incredibly simple. Just a grid with some numbers already placed and a bunch of empty squares waiting to be filled.
At first glance, I thought, “This shouldn’t take long.”
The rules were easy to understand:
Each row must contain numbers from 1 to 9
Each column must contain numbers from 1 to 9
Each small 3×3 box must also contain numbers from 1 to 9
No repeats allowed anywhere.
I started filling in the obvious numbers almost immediately. A row missing only one number? Easy. A box with eight numbers already filled? Even easier.
For a few minutes, it felt almost relaxing—like tidying up a messy desk.
But then the puzzle started pushing back.
