Trying to grow an inventory without spending

I’ve always been pretty careful about spending money on in-game items, so most of the skins in my inventory came from normal gameplay drops or the occasional community giveaway. Recently I started wondering if there are other legit ways players slowly build up their collections without buying cases all the time. After reading a few discussions online, it seems like quite a few people try different approaches to pick up skins for free over time.
